Be Informed

The more you know what to do when an emergency or disaster occurs, the more prepared you're going to be. You should also keep your loved ones, friends and family that are going to assist you, informed of your plan. When it change you need to change your plan also.

The radio is very important to listen to so that people can communicate to either stay where you are or to evacuate. If you need to leave your home due to disaster, you should have information on where the closest shelters are.

There are three types of shelters:

1. General population

2. General Population & Functional Medical Needs

3. General Population & Critters

Also, find out from local municipalities what the emergency plans are and where you should if need be. Make sure any special needs loved ones get put on a list for people needing extra attention during emergencies.
